Roll up your sleeves and attend a Creative Capacity roundtable.

We are hosting a series of smaller discussions on specific topics raised at the Creative Capacity Townhall in June. So,

Join us for some roundtables on September 17th and September 25th from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at City Hall, 1221 SW Fourth Avenue.

In the interest of facilitating discussion, we're breaking the conversations out into these four admittedly broad threads:

  • Artists
  • For-profit creative businesses
  • Non-profit creative organizations
  • Arts education , see Arts Partners below

Space is limited to around 50 people per thread, and both nights will focus on the same questions. Please RSVP at http://creativecapacity.eventbrite.com. If we fill up, we'll do it again soon!

Roundtable guiding questions:

  • What are your current needs & priorities?
  • Do you think we have the resources today (time, people, money) to be successful?
  • How would you better use our current resources?
  • If we had more resources, how would you prioritize using them?
  • Any research/topics you have!
If you missed the Creative Capacity Townhall, watch it here.

Creative Capacity Steering Committee

We want to grow the capacity of the creative community to advocate for more resources through either voters at the ballot or with decision makers at budget time. How we find and use those resources to grow and strengthen the community is up to you.

We need your help. We're looking for folks interested in serving on a steering committee of between 30 to 50 people to help guide this effort.

You should be: a) actively engaged in the creative community b) willing to meet every other month for a few hours during the day c) unafraid to share your opinion d) unafraid of compromise.

Think that's you? Email a little something about yourself to info@creativecapacity.org.

There will be lots of other opportunities to engage with the effort as well, we promise.

Creativity starts in the classroom.

How can we better deliver arts education to every child in the region? The Regional Arts & Culture Council is helping convene Arts Partners, a new vision of collaboration and mentorship to bring arts learning to all students in the Portland Metropolitan region.

For more information, contact Marna Stalcup who is coordinating this effort at mstalcup@racc.org.
